Governing Body Determination – Change of Age Range at Laugharne VC Primary School
On 23 December 2025, the Governing Body of Laugharne VC Primary School, together with the Cabinet Member for Education, approved the proposal to change the school’s age range from 4–11 to 3–11, effective from 12 January 2026. This decision follows a full statutory process, including consultation and objection periods in line with the School Organisation Code (2018). One objection was received during the statutory notice period, and this was carefully considered alongside all supporting responses. The Governing Body concluded that the proposal will enhance early years provision, improve continuity for learners, and support the long-term sustainability of the school.

Consultation Report Publication – Laugharne VCP School
Following the statutory consultation carried out under the School Standards and Organisation (Wales) Act 2013 and the School Organisation Code, we are publishing the Consultation Report regarding the proposal to change the age range of Laugharne VCP School from 4–11 years to 3–11 years.
This report:
- Summarises the feedback received during the consultation period.
- Responds to the issues raised by consultees, including clarifications and any amendments to the proposal.
- Includes Estyn’s response and the Local Authority’s reply.
- Sets out the next steps in the decision-making process.
The proposal aims to extend provision to include nursery-aged pupils (age 3), supporting early years education and continuity within the school setting.
